For medias in favor of peace in Colombia

On September 26, 2016, the historic peace agreement between the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia and the Colombian government was signed, putting an end to more than 50 years of war in the country. The ink had not yet dried on the deal when the political situation in Colombia had completely disappeared from the news.

The international media most interested in reporting on the pulse of the war and its victims, left post-conflict Colombians in limbo. Meanwhile, according to the Ombudsman of Colombia, hundreds of social leaders have been murdered, mainly in the areas formerly controlled by the FARC.

Who's signing

The international media have an enormous responsibility to accompany the Colombian post-conflict so that the hope born in the Havana agreements is not hijacked and the tragic experience of the extermination of the members of the Patriotic Union in the 80’s is not repeated .

We demand that the media give the issue of peacebuilding the same importance they gave, in a sensationalist and tendentious way, to the macabre events of this war.
